In a recent appearance on “Good Morning America,” Denver Broncos inside linebacker Alex Singleton discussed his experience with testicular cancer, from diagnosis to recovery. Singleton had previously announced that he underwent successful surgery and expressed his desire to encourage others to seek preventative screening.
During the interview, Singleton described how the process began with a random NFL drug test, which led him to schedule further medical appointments and tests. Despite receiving the diagnosis, Singleton continued to play, including participating in a game against the Raiders on “Thursday Night Football.”
Singleton spoke about the emotional challenges he faced and highlighted the support he received from those within the Broncos organization. “I learned more just in this past week of compassion and empathy through a bunch of tough dudes than anything else I’ve ever gone through,” Singleton said in the interview.
He also emphasized the importance of early detection and encouraged others to get screened. “I don’t like going to the doctor,” Singleton said, “but now that I’ve learned how quick it is, how easy it is and how detectable it is through [tests], I want to be the guy that’s standing on the top of every mountain just going, ‘Get this done!'”
