A member of the Denver Broncos’ offensive line is moving closer to a return from injury. The team announced Wednesday that guard Ben Powers has been designated for return from injured reserve.
Powers took part in practice on Wednesday and could be activated to the Broncos’ 53-man roster at any time during the next 21 days. If activated, he would be eligible to play as soon as Denver’s Week 15 game against the Green Bay Packers. If the team does not activate him within this window, he will remain on injured reserve for the rest of the season.
Since joining the Broncos before the 2023 season, Powers has started 39 consecutive games. He suffered his injury during Denver’s Week 5 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Broncos have now used five of their allotted eight designations for players returning from injured reserve this season. Previously, defensive tackle Malcolm Roach and linebackers Dre Greenlaw and Garret Wallow were designated for return and subsequently activated. Linebacker Drew Sanders was also designated for return earlier in the season, but his 21-day activation period has not yet started.
Denver’s active roster currently stands at 53 players, so a corresponding move would be required if Powers is activated.
