The Denver Broncos have designated rookie inside linebacker Karene Reid for return from injured reserve, according to an announcement made by the team on Wednesday. This move opens a 21-day window in which Reid can be activated to the 53-man roster. If he is activated, he would be eligible to play as soon as Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Should Reid not be activated within this period, he will remain on injured reserve for the rest of the season.
Reid was placed on injured reserve after sustaining an injury during Week 10 against the Las Vegas Raiders and has missed Denver’s last four games. Before his injury, Reid participated in 59 percent of special teams snaps for the Broncos. The undrafted rookie free agent from Utah had made the initial 53-man roster at the start of the season.
Since the beginning of the 2025 regular season, Denver has used six out of a possible eight designations to return players from injured reserve. Defensive tackle Malcolm Roach and linebackers Dre Greenlaw and Garret Wallow have already been activated. Guard Ben Powers was designated for return last week but has not yet been activated, while linebacker Drew Sanders was designated at season’s start but his 21-day practice window has not begun. The team will gain two additional designations when postseason play begins.
Additionally, Denver signed guard Nash Jones to its practice squad. Jones previously competed with the Los Angeles Chargers during offseason activities but has not played in a regular-season NFL game. He earned All-Sun Belt Honorable Mention recognition after starting all 12 games at left guard for Texas State University during his final college season.
