The Denver Broncos have promoted quarterback Sam Ehlinger from the practice squad to the active roster, according to an announcement made by the team on Monday. This decision comes after the Broncos’ recent victory over the Chargers.
In addition to promoting Ehlinger, Denver has waived tackle Geron Christian and tight end Marcedes Lewis. Christian, who joined the team in November as a former third-round pick, did not participate in any regular-season games for the Broncos. Lewis played in five games during the regular season and was on the field for 24 percent of Denver’s offensive snaps during those appearances.
Ehlinger did not play in a regular-season game but served as Denver’s emergency third quarterback for several games while previously being part of the active roster. He was also elevated twice from the practice squad to join the game-day roster.
With these changes, there is now one open spot remaining on Denver’s 53-man roster.
