The Denver Broncos announced on Mar. 11 that they have re-signed quarterback Sam Ehlinger to a one-year contract.

The move keeps an experienced player in the team’s quarterback group as preparations continue for the upcoming season. Ehlinger, who joined Denver last year, spent much of the 2025 season as the Broncos’ emergency third quarterback and was elevated from the practice squad to the game-day roster several times.

Ehlinger also served as backup quarterback during the AFC Championship Game but did not play in any regular season games in 2025. In preseason action with Denver, he completed 73.7 percent of his passes for 415 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and posted a 98.2 quarterback rating.

Before joining the Broncos, Ehlinger started three games for the Indianapolis Colts during the 2022 season and appeared in eight games over three years.

In addition to bringing back Ehlinger, Denver has also re-signed running back J.K. Dobbins, tight ends Adam Trautman and Nate Adkins, inside linebackers Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad, and offensive lineman Alex Palczewski.

The team continues to shape its roster ahead of next season by retaining key players from last year’s squad.
