The Denver Broncos have secured the AFC West division title for the 2025 season, marking their 16th division championship in franchise history and their first since 2015. The team clinched the title after the Los Angeles Chargers lost to the Houston Texans on Saturday.
This achievement ends a decade-long gap since Denver last won the AFC West, when they captured five consecutive titles from 2011 to 2015. The Broncos will now host their first playoff game since the 2016 AFC Championship Game, which led them to Super Bowl 50.
Denver is also notable as the first team in the AFC to secure its division this year and only the second in the NFL overall.
Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton previously identified winning the division as a primary objective for the team. “Still, more goals are ahead. Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton previously outlined winning the division as the team’s first goal. Denver’s second objective is to secure the best possible seed for the postseason. The Broncos currently hold the conference’s top seed and could clinch the No. 1 spot as early as Sunday,” according to an official statement.
With a win over the Chargers in Week 18, Denver can guarantee itself home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs and a first-round bye.
