Wil Lutz has signed a three-year contract extension with the Denver Broncos, the team announced on Monday. The agreement comes after Lutz made a game-winning 35-yard field goal against the Kansas City Chiefs, helping Denver improve to a 9-2 record before their bye week.
“He’s earned it,” said Head Coach Sean Payton on Monday. “… He’s played well, he’s consistent, and I think he’s got the respect of the locker room.”
Lutz has been recognized for his performance this season with both AFC Special Teams Player of the Week and AFC Special Teams Player of the Month honors. He has successfully converted 17 out of 20 field-goal attempts over 11 games.
During his three seasons with Denver, Lutz has achieved an 88.6 percent success rate on field goals, which is currently the highest in franchise history among kickers with at least 20 attempts. He has also made 98 percent of his extra-point tries.
Since joining the Broncos in 2023, Lutz leads all NFL kickers in game-winning field goals, making eight during that span.
