Cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian signed his second-round restricted free agent tender with the Denver Broncos, the team announced on March 13.
McMillian’s signing secures a key player in Denver’s secondary, as he has contributed significantly over his four seasons with the team. The move is important for the Broncos as they look to maintain stability and playmaking ability in their defensive backfield.
Since joining Denver as an undrafted free agent, McMillian has started 16 games and appeared in 51 contests. He has recorded six interceptions, including two returned for touchdowns, along with 24 passes defensed, five forced fumbles, seven sacks, 195 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and nine quarterback hits. Over the past three seasons, he has made at least two interceptions each year and tallied five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
In the 2025 season, McMillian played a pivotal role in several victories. He secured a game-clinching strip-sack against Tennessee in the season opener, intercepted a pass and delivered a crucial third-down sack against Kansas City, and scored on a pick six versus the Chargers. Additionally, he intercepted Josh Allen during overtime of Denver’s Divisional Round win to help set up the team’s game-winning drive.
McMillian leads all Broncos players with seven total interceptions since the start of 2023 and ranks second on the team in forced fumbles during that period. Other NFL teams can still submit an offer sheet to McMillian until April 17; if that occurs, Denver will have an opportunity to match any offer or receive a second-round draft pick as compensation.
