Cornerback Pat Surtain II is expected to return for the Denver Broncos in their upcoming “Sunday Night Football” game against the Washington Commanders. Surtain, who has been out since suffering a pectoral injury in Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys, was a full participant in practice for two straight days and was not given an injury designation ahead of the matchup. The lack of a game status typically means a player is available to play.
“It feels great, honestly,” Surtain said Friday. “It’s been a long couple of weeks not being out there. I’m grateful and blessed to be back healthy. It definitely feels good to be back.”
During Surtain’s absence, Denver’s defense allowed an average of 13.7 points per game, contributing to a 3-0 record over that stretch.
“[Those] guys, they exuded a lot of confidence out there,” Surtain said. “[Those] dudes were just playing lights out. It made me a fan to watch on the sidelines. Just being out there, seeing from my lens, those guys playing with full strength and confidence. You could tell everybody was together, flying around, playing good ball. When you look at stuff like that, it makes it even more and more exciting to get back out there with the guys.”
Other players who participated fully in practice and were not assigned injury designations include wide receiver Pat Bryant (shoulder), outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper (thumb), and inside linebacker Alex Singleton (illness).
Outside linebacker Jonah Elliss (hamstring) remains questionable after limited participation for three consecutive days. Tight end Nate Adkins (knee) has been ruled out.
The Broncos will host the Commanders on Sunday at 6:20 p.m. MT on NBC.
