ARAPAHOE COUNTY: Arapahoe County Humans Services receives C-Stat honor for fourth straight year

Award

Arapahoe County issued the following announcement on July 16.

At a time when delivering relief to vulnerable populations has never been more critical, Arapahoe County Human Services has been recognized by the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) for its C-Stat Distinguished Performance.

This honor goes to county human services departments that achieve “consistent, significant improvement” on a variety of metrics, including timeliness of responding to and processing applications, providing food or economic relief, minimizing errors throughout the process, enhancing the safety of at-risk children and families, and more. This is the fourth consecutive year CDHS has recognized Arapahoe County Human Services for these achievements, which is extremely rare for a county of this size.

“We’re very pleased to have reached these goals four years in a row,” said Arapahoe County Human Services Director Cheryl Ternes. “Receiving this honor again is a great way to let our staff know how well they’re doing all their jobs, and it provides even more motivation for us to keep improving, especially during this very trying time.”

The Arapahoe County Board of Commissioners also expressed its gratitude for the dedication shown by the entire Human Services operation. “Since the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent shutdowns, our Human Services staff in particular has had to adjust its typical processes to make sure that the members of our most vulnerable residents weren’t falling off of anyone’s radar,” said Board Chair Nancy Sharpe. “We’re delighted, but not surprised, that they’ve been recognized by CDHS for the fourth consecutive year, because we see their excellence every day.”
