In September 2021, the Mountain West announced a new social media campaign, #MakingHerMark, an initiative that focuses on empowering and highlighting MW female student-athletes.
The hashtag #MakingHerMark was created and voted on by the Conference’s female student-athletes. It is a powerful hashtag that illustrates the excitement, resilience, and impact of MW women’s sports.
Institutions and student-athletes are utilizing the hashtag in social media posts and interviews, while over 2,500 Empower t-shirts were provided to all women’s programs across the league.
Since last September, the Mountain West has run a monthly series called “#MakingHerMark Monthly” highlighting outstanding accomplishments from MW women, as well as a “President Spotlight Series” featuring the five female Mountain West presidents in 2021-22.
As we look ahead to the 2022-23 season, the Mountain West is planning several Title IX and Making Her Mark celebrations.
