Nevada senior Wiktoria Samula has been tabbed Mountain West Swimmer of the Week, fellow senior and teammate Laura Isabel Vazquez Lopez has been named MW Diver of the Week, MW Freshman of the Week honors has been awarded to Colorado State’s Lexie Trietley.
This is the sixth career weekly honor for Vazquez Lopez, fifth for Trietley and second for Samula.
SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
WIKTORIA SAMULA, NEVADA
Senior, Lublin, Poland
- Posted wins in all breaststroke events in duals against UNLV (L,166-133) and New Mexico (W, 159-64).
- Won the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:04.31 as well as the 200-meter back with a winning time of 2:21.01 against the Rebels.
- Was a member of the winning 200-meter medley relay, posting a time of 1:43.57 against UNLV.
- Secured wins in the 100-meter back with time of 1:05.15 against the Lobos.
- Was a member of the first-place 200-meter medley relay against New Mexico, clocking a time of 1:45.40.
LAURA ISABEL VAZQUEZ LOPEZ, NEVADA
Senior, Guadalajara, Mexico/ COBAEJ-Jalisco
- Secured two wins in the 3-meter against UNLV (L, 166-133) and the 1-meter against New Mexico (W, 159-64).
- Scored 357.53 points to win the 3-meter against UNLV.
- Placed second in the 1-meter against the Rebels, with a score of 299.48.
- Posted 325.28 points to win the 1-meter against New Mexico.
- Registered a second-place score of 369.75 in the 3-meter against the Lobos.
LEXIE TRIETLEY, COLORADO STATE
Olean, New York/ Olean HS
- Secured two individual wins at the Air Force Academy Winter Invitational.
- Won the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 23.25.
- Posted a winning time of 51.44 in the 100-meter free.
- Registered a third-place time of 1:55.86 in the 200-meter free.
- Helped the Rams win three relays, the 200-meter, 400-meter free and the 200-meter medley.
