T.J. Ward, a Super Bowl 50 champion and former safety for the Denver Broncos, will announce the team’s Day 2 pick at the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh, according to an April 16 announcement from the team.
Ward spent three seasons with Denver from 2014 to 2016 as part of his eight-year professional football career. He was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft and later joined Denver’s “No-Fly Zone” secondary. During his time with the Broncos, Ward earned Pro Bowl honors in his first two seasons and contributed significantly to their Super Bowl victory over Carolina by recording both an interception and a fumble recovery.
Denver currently holds one Day 2 selection—the No. 62 overall pick—which is also their first choice in this year’s draft following a trade for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.
Ward’s tenure with Denver saw him accumulate notable statistics: he made 222 tackles, including eleven tackles for loss, thirteen quarterback hits, five sacks, nineteen passes defensed, three interceptions, and two fumble recoveries over three seasons.
He follows other former Broncos players who have announced draft picks for the team in recent years. Running back Montee Ball revealed Denver’s selections of RJ Harvey and Pat Bryant in last year’s draft while former tight end Tony Scheffler announced linebacker Jonah Elliss’s selection in 2024.
The upcoming NFL Draft is scheduled to take place from Thursday, April 23 through Saturday, April 25.
