Another game-winning field goal has brought more recognition for Denver Broncos kicker Wil Lutz. The NFL announced Wednesday that Lutz has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance in Denver’s Week 11 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Lutz converted all five of his field-goal attempts and made an extra point, scoring a total of 16 points in the divisional win. His efforts included a decisive 35-yard kick, which marked his fifth game-winning field goal of the season. He also completed kicks from distances of 29, 24, 38, and 54 yards. In the fourth quarter alone, Lutz was responsible for all nine points scored by the Broncos.
This marks another accolade for Lutz, who won AFC Special Teams Player of the Week twice in 2024 and previously earned NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors four times during his tenure with the New Orleans Saints. According to the team, “Lutz is the first Broncos player to win the honor since Marvin Mims Jr. in Week 15 last season.”
The veteran kicker was also recognized as AFC Special Teams Player of the Month after achieving a perfect October that included two successful attempts from at least 55 yards out.
Other Broncos players earning Player of the Week honors this season include Nik Bonitto (Week 5) and Jonathon Cooper (Week 6).
